WORK

Toronto-Dominion Centre Banking Pavilion

LOCATION

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

ARCHITECT

Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, with John B. Parkin & Associates and Bregman Hamann

COMPLETED

1965-69

The banking pavilion houses the main branch of TD Bank (now called TD Canada Trust). Materials used in the interior include marble, oak, and granite. What's extraordinary about this building is that the roof is supported by only the steel I-section columns at each end, with no internal columns or walls.
